June Check-In: Healing Isn’t Always Loud, But It Is Brave

Let’s be real...healing isn’t always Social Media-worthy. But it’s necessary.


And if you’ve been keeping it all together, showing up for everyone else, juggling work, family, and maybe even some old wounds you don’t talk about... I want to give you something this month that helps.


You don’t have to crash out to know it’s time to reset.

🌍 This Month Matters

June is important. It’s PTSD Awareness Month, Men’s Health Month, and Pride Month.


Which means we’re talking about:


  • Trauma that hides in plain sight

  • Mental health stigma (especially for men)

  • And the power of showing up, fully and freely, in who you are


This month is about remembering that healing isn’t weakness...it’s a damn power move.

🧠 This Month’s Tool: “3-Word Check-In”

Here’s a fast mental scan that takes less than a minute.


Ask yourself:


  • What are 3 words for how I actually feel right now?


No censoring. No cleaning it up.


Then ask:

  • What’s one small thing I need today to feel a little more human?


A nap? Silence? A win? A hug? A boundary?


That’s self-awareness. That’s power.

🔥 What I’ve Been Up To


  • Led the second week of my first-ever EMDR therapy group, real tears, deep breakthroughs, and so much hope.

  • Held space for men navigating silent trauma and emotional shutdown.

  • Helped a first responder unpack childhood pain they’d carried for decades.

  • Worked with people across Maryland, Virginia, and virtually to release trauma, not just talk about it.


Also… King the Yorkie continues to supervise my sessions, as if he’s on payroll.

🌀 EMDR Intensives – For individuals seeking in-depth healing in a concentrated format. I host these in Frederick, travel across Maryland and Virginia, or meet you virtually. You don’t have to be local to start healing.
